This is a mini lesson set up to teach RI.6.6. author's purpose with concentration on the use of testimonials and propaganda with which students have a difficult time understanding in text. These lessons use concrete examples with real life connections to their digital world to make the concepts concrete leading them to abstract thinking and application with text connections. Students are able to apply not only author's purpose but strategies authors use to convey their purposes moving from concrete thinking to abstract through the use of hands-on activities that incorporate engaged and motivated participation. Students will enjoy the activities and be ready to apply their strategies to text.
