Product Description
This exercise can be used in reading or science class. It is perfect if you integrate the two subjects. The student reads two paragraphs: one positive and one negative toward prairie dogs. Then the student answers nine questions based on purpose, viewpoint, and personal opinion / evaluation. This printable can be used with the Houghton Mifflin Harcourt (2012) Journeys fifth grade selection "Lewis and Clark" or independently. The questions mimic the items found on the Smarter Balance ELA practice test.

In the area of biology, information is given about prairie dogs and their role in ecosystems. It also shows how people can have different viewpoints on ecological issues.
