Author's Purpose in a Winter Wonderland -
I love teaching Author's Purpose but it is so hard to find engaging activities that provide variety and real-world applications for my students. That is exactly why I created this resource!
Teach your students how to write to persuade, inform, and entertain, with these fun winter-themed writing activities.
Included in this set are:
• an Author's Purpose poster (8.5x11) in both color and b&w. I like to use the color version as a classroom poster and the black-and-white version as a reference page for my students' resource binders.
• 2 writing activities to help your students learn about persuasive writing: persuasive letter writing and learning to debate a side of an argument that you may not necessarily agree with
• 2 writing activities to help your students learn about writing intended to inform them: a newspaper front page and an informational brochure
• 2 writing activities to help your students learn to write for entertainment purposes: a comic strip (with a focus on writing) and a fill-in-the-blank writing narrative, in the form of a popular word game.
With these 6 engaging writing activities, your students will write letters, arguments, newspaper articles, informational brochures, comic strips, and fill-in-the-blank narratives. They will practice their identification of common parts of speech, and will learn to write to persuade, inform, and entertain others.
The only prep required for you is printing the pages!
