This addition Autism work task is differentiated for a variety of ability levels. You can use the task without the word problem to introduce addition concepts using manipulatives. You can use the problems already created, or make your own addition problems on the pages with the blanks. Word problems can then be faded in later as students master the task of addition. .
Visuals in word problems include highlighted numbers and key terms to introduce word problems. There are word problems without highlighting to aid in prompt fading.
Pages with large numbers in the rectangles can be used for students to match pictures as they would with a popular dot number strategy.
*If the student can write, you can omit the number icons and use a dry erase marker to fill in the numbers on the blank icons.
