Teach acceptance to young minds!
Special Education Story for Typical Children
A Freckle Book presents a specific disability such as Autism or Down Syndrome in a story-like format which helps typical children
understand common characteristics of that disability. The books help young children learn to accept and enjoy their peers with special needs.

Within each Freckle Book are reference pages intended to educate
parents, teachers, and group leaders on the disability. Resource pages with special needs organizations and websites are also included in the books.

The Freckle Books series is appropriate for teachers and leaders to read aloud to groups of grades K-6 children. These stories are an effective way to explain that children with differences want to be treated the same as everyone else.

*Note about printable Freckle Books: The download includes 24 pages, so download time could take up to 30 minutes. Be patient. The effect you will have on kids after reading one of our books to them will be life changing. Kids who become aware of the desires of those with special needs is eye opening and can lay the foundation for treating others as they grow.

The printables include the front and back covers, and should print in order. Print everything out, place the title pages and copyright pages first, then begin with page 1. Even pages should be on the right, and odd pages should be on the left. Staple or spiral bind all the pages (and cover) down the left side of the packet, to read like a book. When reading to students, show left and right pages together. Laminate before stapling or spiral binding beforehand for durability.
