This packet helps students in the lower grades or those diagnosed with autism and other cognitive disabilities learn how to spell consonant digraph and blend words. Each picture provides four empty boxes so that the student can spell the word depicted within the picture.
Common Core:
RF.K.3. Know and apply grade-level phonics and word analysis skills in decoding words.
• Demonstrate basic knowledge of letter-sound correspondences
by producing the primary or most frequent sound for each
consonant.
• Associate the short sounds with the common spellings
(graphemes) for the five major vowels.
• Distinguish between similarly spelled words by identifying the
sounds of the letters that differ.
L.1.2. Use conventional spelling for words with common spelling patterns and for frequently occurring irregular words
• Spell untaught words phonetically, drawing on phonemic
awareness and spelling conventions.
