"Project" here means read and respond, not create. Give students a purpose for reading and get 2 projects in 1!
Students simply read ANY autobiography and/or biography (forms can be used twice). Students will read, finish sentence starters regarding point of view and author's purpose, and make check- mark choices that will cause reflection on the text structure/organization of their book. In addition, they will take note of the plot as well as notate about their character's obstacles and successes. Finally, students will also notate about common topics in this genre: childhood, family, education, etc. Empty boxes are also provided for students to make/create the topics that their specific book addressed. By the end, they will have a deeper understanding of their book and this genre!
Opportunities for students to be thoughtful, reflective, and creative are built in and it's very flexible! Forms can be filled in while reading and/or after reading, creating an end of book project. Designed for multiple uses, multi-use.
Flexible use options:
-use pages separately or collectively
-use for whole class genre/novel studies/book clubs/lit. circles
-use for book talks or presentations or book reports
-use for independent reading/SSR/DEAR
-use to supplement ANY reading program
-use to supplement articles/narratives/sketches from teacher-purchased books or on-line resources
One time is never enough!
