A set of 40 sorting cards with common and more challenging examples of autotrophs and heterotrophs for kids to sort!
Great for bell ringers or review!
During each day of the unit when I teach autotrophs and heterotrophs, I have the cards laying on their desks as they walk into the classroom. The instructions on the board tell them to sort the cards into two piles: autotrophs and heterotrophs.
In some classes, I allow them to use their technology or a dictionary to decipher the terms the don’t know. Other classes I only allow them to ask other students. In my senior level classes, I make them sort to the best of their ability and we have a contest on how many can get them most correct.
The whole thing should only take 5 minutes. Keep a timer running, play some music and make it fun!
