The focus of this Bingo adaptation is on letter identification, and letter sounds. It was designed for Junior Kindergarteners, but could also be useful in the Preschool, or Kindergarten Intervention settings.
Options for use:
Designate one person to be the “caller.” Place calling cards in a small bucket for the caller to draw from. Provide each player with a Bingo Card, and covering markers. Have the caller draw a card from the bucket and announce. Encourage students to name the letters without adult support. Have players cover letters on their card as they are called out. The first person to have a “blacked out” card wins. Play could also go until each student has their card covered.
Small Group Adaptation:
Have students rotate choosing and calling cards from the bucket. They can then mark their cards as the letters are called out. Play ends when a student has covered all of the letters on their card.
