Fall is my favorite season! I love everything about it. It is also the time when our students seem to have settled into the routines and habits that we have shared with them. I created this set of cards to be used in a variety of ways during the fall season.
Large alphabet cards: Use the large cards as part of your classroom décor or for whole group learning.
Small alphabet cards: Use the small cards in a work station to practice alphabetical order. You could also use them in a writing center to spell seasonal words.
Similarities and differences sort: Students can work in small groups to justify why their card is included in a fall set. Examples could be “you pick apples in the fall” to which another student may reply, “you pick pumpkins, too. They go together.”
Continue sorting until all cards are used. There is no right or wrong answer, but these are great for stating a claim and justifying it.
