This culture activity allows students to work in groups to teach each other the culture points found in Avancemos Level 2, Unidad 4 Lección 2. It features 38 questions (in English) about all of the culture points from this lesson, including the origins of the Náhuatl language, ancient ball games played in Mexico, the Zapotec and Otavaleño peoples, two traditional songs sung in Mexico and Ecuador, and the descriptions of Granada and Quito found on p. 245.
Basically, you put the students in groups, and each group is responsible for researching a different one of the culture boxes (there are five total). They work together in their group to translate their assigned paragraph and pull all out of the major details. Then, part of the group stays behind as "teachers," while the rest of the group rotates from station to station, collecting all of the info that the other groups looked up. Then, after they've visited all the other groups, they return to their home group to share the information they gathered with the "teachers" who stayed behind.
Culture questions are always an easy thing to include on tests to reward those students who are willing to study! If they complete this activity beforehand, and you have them study it before the test, then you could include a few culture questions to help boost their grades.
You could easily convert this into a regular culture review sheet if you do not wish to have them do it jigsaw style. This way, it could be used as homework or a sub plan. :)
You'll see that this is a 10 page document. Each of the five groups has their own unique two-page document. The top part is for recording their assigned information, and then they have the questions for all of the groups that they're NOT a part of.
