This is an interactive Powerpoint. It is meant to help your class think about the vocabulary. There are three "brackets" slides, based upon how you'd see college basketball brackets. The first one is simply choosing the "better" sport from each group (not current vocab, but well known vocab). This first slide is just a warm-up to give them an idea of what they're doing. You will find that some students are very passionate about their choices though!
The other two brackets include vocabulary from the Avancemos 3 textbook, unidad 3 lección 1. The idea is to have the class determine the best of each grouping. The teacher uses the projector or SmartBoard to put the brackets on the board, then writes the chosen response on the line each time, until there is a winning option. Students will debate, and you can encourage them to supply one justification (in Spanish) for their choice. The other vocabulary-based slide is choosing the WORSE of each option. Since these are environmental issues, it makes sense to choose the "worst" of each pairing of issues. Again, ask your students to justify their answers. A great tool to get them talking!
