Looking to motivate students to converse at a higher level ?
Try this activity where they must form opinions .
This activity obligates students to use authentic language.
Students answer a survey and then form groups of 4-6 to discuss their opinions.
They also have a number of questions for each member to lead or trigger the
(Guidelines for discussion activity are included should you choose to use them)
1 ) a survey of 10 statements that students must agree or disagree with.
2) 8 questions relating to the statements.
3) Instructions / options for group discussion on topics in survey.
Example of survey:
Un nino no debe ver mas de una hora de television al dia. ( they mark Si or No)
Sample of questions after students have discussed :
La opinión de quién/es te sorprendió? Explica.
Students get into groups to compare and discuss their responses.
Example of follow-up question:
¿Hay algún documental que has visto que te haya agradado?
* All statements relate to the lesson.
* This is a great way to get students conversing at a more advanced level.
