I use this film at the end of my Comparative Political Systems class. Students apply knowledge they've learned about government institutions to try to analyze the Na'Vi society.
Students are asked to identify the four functions of Na'Vi government, the five themes of their political science, and compare their political ideology to modern-day liberal and conservative values. Additionally, students research members of today's political cabinet and synthesize what they would be interested in in Na'Vi society. Finally, students compare leadership styles and examine the political decision-making process of the human invasion of the Na'Vi.
