Description

Do you wish your students understood the reasons behind the math involved in chemistry? This average atomic mass inquiry challenge will have them actively working to create a process rather than passively hearing your description of the steps.

This product prompts students to think about why atomic mass isn’t a whole number, reminds them of the important vocabulary, encourages data collection, and guides them through creating a formula for the average atomic mass of the new element “pretzellium”.

This activity includes:

· Average Atomic Mass Introduction

· Relevant Vocabulary

· Brainstorming Prompts

· Data Collection (two levels of difficulty)

· Concluding Questions

· (2) Sample Sets

· Answer Key
