My students had a blast completing this average speed scavenger hunt! Included is the student sheet where they record their answers and show their work, as well as 10 images and their distance/time measurements.
I have put together ten pictures of different objects (cars, bugs, airplanes, etc.) and have assigned each picture a distance and time measurement. Students have a worksheet that gives them the average speed of unknown objects. I print out the pictures on colored paper and then hide them around my classroom. Students need to search for the images and once found need to use the distance and time measurements to calculate average speed. Once calculated, they must match their answer with one of the unknown answers on their answer key. I make this a competition and see which student can correctly locate and calculate all 10 first.
This was a blast and it makes a dry topic exciting! Your students will really enjoy this!
