This activity was created to target descriptive language. This is a great activity that can be used with one student, a group, or a whole class. If you use this with multiple kids you can have them share their answers, especially their reasons why the item does not belong because everyone may have different descriptions. The first page of this packet is 12 real pictures that I took. Some of the pictures belong in fall and some do not. The students need to cross out what does not belong and circle what does. The next page has the name of the pictures listed and the student needs to describe why or why not the item belongs in fall. Then there is a page with facts about fall where the student needs to fill in the blank for the missing word. The next page includes pictures about what you hear in fall and the student needs to fill in the missing word. Then there are pictures for what shape is autumn including items such as a rake and apple. The next page is definitions where the student needs to write down the definition of what animals do in the fall, such as migrate. The last page includes a word bank and the student need to finish the sentence to say what the animal does in the fall. An answer sheet is provided but some responses have multiple answers.
If you want to make this activity last longer or to use it for two sessions it goes great with the book Awesome Autumn by Bruce Goldstone.
A parent letter is also included that can be sent home to the parent letting them know what their child learned.
The clip art pictures were either purchased from www.scrappindoodles.com or downloaded from www.mycutegraphics.com.
