This is a 27 page kindergarten (and 1st graders who must master kindergarten standards) emergency sub activity pack. It includes 11 language arts and 10 math activities, enough to cover two days of being absent! There are 25 usable pages including kindergarten math and language standards covered. I included some easy independent pages and some pages that might be guided depending upon the learners involved.

There are 10 math activities which include a butterfly and lady bug symmetrical drawing and writing activity. There is a comparison page for measurement (heavy vs. not heavy) and a sort for "at school" and "at home".

Also included for math:

pattern strips (finish the pattern, cut and paste
write the missing numbers up to 50
color by number addition toucan (sums to 10)
stars and critters graphing with addition and subtraction (2 pages)
number/picture match to 6
two story problems with ten frames and missing addends


There are 11 language arts activities.

beginning sounds picture/letter match
ending sounds picture/letter match
rhyming pictures with words
opposites challenge page
write the vowel that makes sense with pictures (2 pages)
short a and long a sort cut and paste
mini story; The Dog, with text dependent multiple choice
story related writing and illustrating from, The Dog

There is another great use for a file like this...If you have to test students in your room when you have a class-full of kids, this may be a packet most can do independently; especially if you have first or second graders and you need them to stay busy while you are testing.

NEW: I added five new pages of activities including a mini story with writing and comprehension questions, identify vowels (color by vowel sound), a sort for home/school, and a ladybug symmetry page. These are listed above.

Kindergarten Core Standards:

R.F. K.2 Demonstrate understanding of spoken words, syllables, and sounds (phonemes).
R.F. K.2a Recognize and produce rhyming words.
R.F.K.2d Isolate and pronounce the initial, medial vowel, and final sounds in three-phoneme words.
R.F. K.2e Add or substitute individual sounds in simple, one-syllable words to make new words.
R.F.K.3a Demonstrate basic knowledge of one-to-one letter sound correspondences by producing the primary sound or many of the most frequent sounds for each consonant.
R.F. K. 3b Associate the long and short sounds with the common spellings for the five major vowels.
R.F.K.4 Read emergent-reader texts with purpose and understanding
W.K.1 Use a combination of drawing, dictating, and writing to compose.
L.K.6 Use words and phrases acquired through conversations, reading and being read to, and responding to texts.

K.CC.2 Count forward beginning from a given number with the known sequence.
K. CC.5 Count to answer “how many?” questions about as many as 20 things arranged in a line, a rectangular array, or a circle, or as many as ten things in a scattered configuration; given a number from 1-20, count out that many objects.
K.CC.6 Identify whether the number of objects in one group is greater than, less than, or equal to the number of objects in another group.
K. OA. 2 Solve addition and subtraction word problems, and add and subtract within 10 by using objects or drawing to represent the problem.
K.G.5 Model shapes in the world by building shapes from components and drawing shapes.
K.MD.1 Describe measurable attributes of objects such as length or weight. Describe several measurable attributes of a single object.



There's nothing worse than waking up sick with no idea of what you will leave for a sub because you were just fine the day before! I hope this file helps teachers of early learners. There are 25 usable pages in this product.
