Let your students get away from it all! In this fun language-centered unit, 3rd to 5th grade students will be given a budget to visit one of four U.S. destinations. In eight engaging lessons, your class will be excited to:
write a piece about why they chose their destination;
learn and practice vacation-related vocabulary words (3 levels included);
practice using a map scale;
compute distance and prices;
write a narrative;
choose restaurants, activities, and hotels while staying on budget by keeping a balance sheet;
create three postcards to send home;
practice speaking and listening skills by sharing with the class.
This is a complete lesson plan with all handouts and a PowerPoint to introduce the unit to your class. Differentiation and scaffolding suggestions included! Detailed day-by-day lesson plan and rubrics for every activity, as well as an overall rubric that students can use to keep themselves on track.
The entire project is neatly contained in a pocket folder so students stay organized and you stay sane! It’s great for the end of the year or before a holiday break! This is a fun project you can look forward to using every year.
