This interactive notebook includes 11 lessons on the Aztec Empire plus a study guide and test, totaling 12 sections. It starts with the geography of the Aztec valley in south central Mexico, covers new vocabulary, and explores a timeline of the period when the Aztec were the supreme rulers. Next it looks at the origin of the Aztecs, their government, including Montezuma II, and the social structure that gave rise to this native tribe. Fun and work, religion, and the calendar are all on the agenda, as well as weapons and warriors. Finally, the conquest of the Aztec and the takeover of Mexico by the Spanish and Hernan Cortes wrap up this unit of study. Each lesson takes 1-5 days to cover, making this a comprehensive unit which includes original articles, multiple foldable crafts, cloze notes, maps, and lots of opportunities for writing and creative expression.
