Description

This awesome cross-curricular activity combines math, writing, and science concepts! Students learn about the Small Pox virus in a half-page reading. Then, students create bar graphs showing the decline of both civilizations. Next, in a guided mini-writing lesson students use the evidence learned to support a topic sentence.

Teacher directions, instructional materials, and a writing guide are provided with two possible options!

This activity is easy to teach, effectively showing the devastation of each civilization by the introduction of a new disease to the Americas.
