Product Description

This BAAM quiz game format is an adaptable and engaging way to review any topic. The game can be played in teams as big as you like. Children choose a number and then answer the revealed question to earn points. There are 'All Plays' where both teams have to answer as well as 'The Thief' where the opposing team can get a chance to steal the points! However, if they land on a BAAM then they lose all of their points! BAAM is a fun game for children (and teachers!) due to the random nature of the BAAMs and points which means that either side can win till the very last question! This means that all children can be involved and can win which adds a high level of excitement. You can choose children to answer to ensure chances of success or have children display their answers on whiteboards to check understanding.

The questions for BAAM Fractions 1 are based on the English National Curriculum for Key Stage 2 Maths. However, the questions are generic and could be used to compliment any work on fractions.

Questions are based on the following:

  • Recognise, find and name a half as one of two equal parts of an object, shape or quantity.
  • Recognise, find and name a quarter as one of four equal parts of an object, shape or quantity.
  • Recognise, find, name and write fractions 1/3, 1/4, 2/4 and 3/4 of a length, shape, set of objects or quantity.
  • Write simple fractions (for example, 1/2 of 6 = 3) and recognise the equivalence of 2/4 and 1/2.
  • Count up and down in tenths.
  • Recognise, find and write unit fractions and non-unit fractions with small denominators.
  • Recognise and show, using diagrams, equivalent fractions with small denominators.
  • Add and subtract fractions with the same denominator within one whole (for example: 5/7 + 1/7 = 6/7).
