Back to School: What’s Cool – A Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint Project
is a back-to-school or beginning -of-the-semester engaging, fun project designed as a warm up for students in a Computer Applications
class who have introductory skills in both Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint to review their skills.
This project is divided into a Microsoft Excel
section and PowerPoint
section. Teachers may choose to do one or both sections. Teachers may also choose whether they want the students to present their choices to the class.
In the Microsoft Excel
section students created five different worksheets in the Excel workbook, to show back-to-school apparel, accessories, and shoe outfits that they believe will be trendy this year.
The Microsoft Excel skills needed to complete this project are:
• Create a Spreadsheet
• Rename sheets in an Excel Workbook
• Merge and Center Titles
• Copy/Paste Spreadsheets to other worksheets in the workbook
• Screenshot pictures from the internet to put into the Excel workbook
• Insert Borders on Cells
• Adjust Column Widths
• Write a Total Formula
In the Microsoft PowerPoint section students create a PowerPoint presentation to present slides as to what Apparel, Food, Social Media, Smartphones, Movies will be popular this coming school year.
