I use this frequently at the beginning of the year as an icebreaker. You can use a motivational video that goes with the title or theme of how you want to be remembered. It’s very easy, and I have found my students are very engaged throughout this activity. Just a small warning, you may want to have some tissues with you. This activity can become very emotional depending on the dynamics of your classroom. You may need at least a 50-minute class period to get this done, but you can always split it into two if you run out of time.
Students will use sticky notes to describe how they want to be remembered using three words on each separate sticky note. When finished, they will come up to the board, explain the word, why they want to be remembered this way, and then stick the sticky note on the board. When finished with all your classes, you will have a huge collection of sticky notes with positive words describing your students interpersonal goals for the future. I've also included an alternate way of doing this activity for teachers with smaller classes.
Enjoy! Let me know what you think! I hope this helps you as much as it helped me with my students.
