This is a template in powerpoint format.
This is a GENERAL backward design unit I am using - Could be used for any subject? I think so at this point! I have transitions for the slides, and sounds too. Take any and all out if you wish. I only ask that you don't use my pics for other worksheets (thanks in advance).
I inserted letters in the sentence spaces, and you can simply rewrite whatever you want in the bulleted areas, to make the template really user friendly.
Here are the basic ideas: the standards, I will know, I will be skilled at, the big idea, misconceptions, enduring ideas, essential questions, key learning events, assessments
I put the topics in student friendly language when possible, with the backward design topics in small letters
I have taken courses on "Skillful Teacher" and a workshop with Kim Marshall, and our district is into this curriculum design, so I am off and running with it. It seems that they have "tweeked" the backward design, and added "misconceptions" so this is the revised edition.
First, I TRIED and TRIED to put the backward design with "pages" as a template - will not work with TPT. I have it as a brochure on TPT in pdf format, but no go at this point. When I get that worked out, I will put it into a worksheet template. Any suggestions welcome here!
I made this for my parents/students/administrators/me to be as EASY to fill in as possible. I created ALL the pics myself with my Painter 12 program. (takes care of copyright issues.) For me, backward design has to be clear, concise, and easy to adapt.
I am so happy with my template because I desperately wanted a template I could really use even for parents/students, in a "quick and easy form." I created each picture and drew them using painter 12. (no problems with copyright here!)
How will I use this?
I show the students the ppt at the beginning of the unit
We review the parts of the unit
I offer the students the ppt to bring home on their flash drives, and if I can get my website going, will leave it there for parents
We consistently review the backward design brochure during the unit lesson
We reflect on the ppt at the end of the unit
I refine, redesign, redo the ppt as needed
On to the next unit!
So, I hope you enjoy this ppt, and I hope it works for you. Thanks for looking, and check out my other visual activities.
Also, I try to keep the prices fair!
