PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

This Back to School Emergent Reader reviews the student procedures and expectations for when they are using the school restroom or bathroom. Three differentiated versions are included, which allow for multiple opportunities to internalize these hygiene habits as well as providing extended reading practice. A guided reading version is also included, along with a colored version for inclusion in your class "book tub." The Build-A-Word version has a focus on the high frequency word to.

This differentiated emergent reader is designed to engage the child with the text, which helps to develop fluency and confidence while reading. For each version, the story text remains the same while the student performs a different task to complete the emergent reader.

1. Build-A-Word The child cuts out the letters for the target word, sequences the letters, and glues them into the booklet.

2. Write-the-Word A lined area on each page is provided for the student to write the target word.

3. Match Text with Illustration The child reads the text on the page and glues on the illustration that corresponds with that sentence. This version could also be used as a reading comprehension assessment.

Bonus Item A guided reading version is provided!

These emergent readers can be used for center activities, guided reading, as well as for intervention groups.
