As a reading tutor, I find that my students need as much repetition as possible in order for them to gain mastery of their sight words. I created this packet as another follow-up to my “Sight Word Fun!” packets for that very reason.
This packet includes 40 Dolch Pre-Primer sight word activity sheets - each one focusing on one word. Students color, trace, and write the word at the top. Then they will use their visual discrimination skills to find the 8 boxes at the bottom containing that word and glue them on the page. The words in those boxes are written in different fonts as students need to be able to recognize the sight word written in different ways.
A sight word booklet is also included. This contains a cover (a boy and girl version) and 4 checklists covering all 40 words. The blank checklists can be printed if you wish to write in your own words or arrange them in a different manner.
You may want to use the checklists to pre-assess your students. Once they are able to read a word instantly without hesitation, they color it’s corresponding star in their booklet. The activity sheets can then be used for those words still needing reinforcement.
*NOTE: When printing, use “actual size” on your computer.
