The Bee-Bot Programming Activities Project, designed for kindergarten 1 & 2, and first and second grade classrooms, interweaves the math, language arts, and science curriculum standards throughout its 18 lessons.The students learn to program the BeeBot to go forward, backwards and rotate the Beebot to 90, 180, 270, and 360 degree turns. The manual teaches the students to make a one step, two step and three step program. As the students plan their moves along a Bee-Bot mat, they need to use critical problem solving skills to reach the correct square. The mats include a 1-10 number line mat, a color mat, a die mat for numbers 1 to 6, a 12 shapes mat (square, rectangle, pentagon, hexagon, heptagon, octagon, oval, circle, triangle, trapezoid, rhombus, parallelogram), 3 alphabet mats , 2 cvc mats, and science mats that include the science topics for kindergarten 1 & 2; The Bee-Bot manual includes the math curriculum standards of number recognition, computation in addition, subtraction, and multiplication, geometry, estimation, and measurement. The students learn to problem solve and use critical thinking skills to figure out the many challenges in this pre-engineering unit.
