Bellwork, Warm-Ups, Bell-Ringers, "Train Your Brains", etc, etc, whatever clever name we teachers decide to use it should be quick to produce and engaging for the students! This month you get FOUR WEEKS even though school is out most of December! It's a great starter for the new year and new semester!
This bellwork is great spiral review, quick checks for previous learning, and standardized test practice. In December I do more multiple choice and standardized test practice to prepare for our district written exam.
I have compiled the bellwork I have and intend to use for my eighth grade PreAlgebra class. I have provided four full weeks of bellwork no matter what my schedule or your schedule may be.
Each week has five bellworks, one for each day. It should take the kids 5-10 minutes to complete.
Each bellwork has one student handout, and two PowerPoint slides.
There is one page per day with 2 or 3 duplicate handouts. This cuts down on your prep time tremendously!
One slide has the questions with no answers. I like to use this for Smart Board discussions. You could also use it as a display for students to use if paper is scarce for the handout. The second slide is animated and has answers provided.
For four weeks, you get 40 PowerPoint slides and 20 pages to duplicate for student handouts!
The concepts include:
Algebraic Word problems
Solving Functions involving function notation
Scientific Notation with Operations and Word Problems
Analyze Linear Equations
Solving & Writing Systems of Equations
Linear vs. NonLinear
Rational & Irrational Real Numbers
Real World Applications
Best Buys / Unit Pricing
I find that sometimes it helps to put these same questions on weekly assessments!
THANKS so MUCH!
