WHIZ... POP... Bang... Sweet sorrow, happy school days, we are ready for an easy task!
Ready for a break from those worksheets? Let's play a game! This activity can be used as study for test prep too.
Everyone is a winner as we all will learn while bonding, laughing and learning. Reinforcing the concept and identification of Figures of Speech that students have been learning since grade 3 with a game of traditional BINGO.
Ten BINGO cards contain 8 different figures of speech: Alliteration, Hyperbole, Idiom, Metaphor, Onomatopoeia, Oxymoron, Personification, and Simile's are all included. In addition 30 examples of each type are written on cards ready to be printed on card stock, laminated and used repeatedly.
Brains will be engaged and fully charged as students listen and use their problem solving skills and thinking skills to decipher each particular figure of speech example.
You can read the example cards, or (if you have older students), ask the students to take turns reading for even more participation. Use candy or other markers to indicate when a figure of speech has been identified. Traditional BINGO rules apply so we are going for a straight line to win.
