If you want to teach reading in the content area of history, then this product is for you! The worksheet is entitled "How the Wright Brothers Invented the Airplane" The informational text gives background on Wilbur and Orville's experimentation with gliders and tells what they studied to invent the first successfull airplane. The text includes details of the first flight at Kitty Hawk, North Carolina. To make it more interesting, I included some dialog of things the brothers might have said. There are five open-ended questions covering the reading skills of locating details, cause-effect, drawing conclusions, and making inferences. My directions remind students to write their answers in complete sentences and look up to the selection for answers. The product includes 4 black-and-white photographs of a bird, their glider, their first airplane, and the Wright Brothers. There is an answer key. The product is on a word document which you can easily edit if necessary. It will also be easy to print off as many copies as you need.
