PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

This product contains 33 “concept strips,” each of which asks students to describe or explain a biology term or compare two terms. Here are a few ways to use them:

*Print and cut up the sentences into strips. Give students five minutes to review their notes and then have each student stand in front of the class and spend two minutes on the concept.
*Have three slips on a podium and give a student a few seconds to choose one. That student must then talk for one full minute about the concept without preparatory time.
*Differentiate by choosing who receives each strip. Begin several class periods by having students do several one-minute “mingles” to teach the concepts to their classmates.
*Give students their strips the day before one of these exercises so that they have time to prepare.
*Give students the option of doing a non-linguistic representation of the concepts.
*Print all three sheets and give them out as an optional or mandatory at-home review exercise.
