I got tired of the same old biomes projects- powerpoints, tri-fold posters, and mini-models that seemed sometimes to be more art project than actual information.
SO, I created something new- a playable biome cards project!
Students create a themed deck of cards based on one biome per suit. Different students assigned to different biomes creates decks of cards with multiple purposes. Each card in the suit is a different requirement- plant species, animal species, temperature graph, precipitation graph, national park representing the biome, environmental issues... you get the idea.
The card deck project comes with a detailed rubric for completion.
Once decks are created, students can create card games based on biome traits, or simply play a few hands of regular games with these cards. I found that kids actually did play with these and found them useful for study guides.
