Product Description

I created this BIP because the alternatives I have used had a demerit style system with students getting strikes for exhibiting the behaviors I wanted stopped. This BIP has no negative connotation in its rating scales. For example, I included a 1 instead of a zero. This helps to alleviate the possibility of the student feeling defeated, and thinking they can’t ever do anything right. 0 = “I am worthless”. IN this BIP 1 = I need work. 1 = this will take some time.

I currently use this in a grade 5 classroom for two students. The left column can be edited to reflect your class schedule.

I keep record and they do not ever see this BIP or travel with it to other classes. I simply tell them at the end of the day if it is a positive Remind message or work needed message.

Of course, tying this BIP to home for consequences is ideal. Not all scenarios or home situations will always allow to tie the consequence at home. If parents are o board, GREAT! In my school I cannot take away recess so logical consequences are hard to come by.

Being safe, responsible and respectful are part of our classroom charter(rules).

You can jot the behaviors that fall into those categories and brainstorm expected behaviors with the student each day during check in.
