A Dark Dark Tale, written and illustrated by Ruth Brown, is a great book to read around Halloween, or when introducing emotions, the writing technique of suspense, or getting to know parts of speech (nouns and adjectives). Use this activity pack with students after reading the book together as a group.
Included are 5 pages:
1 - Asks students to think of a time when they were in a dark, dark place and to describe/draw it
2 - Asks students to think of a time when they were in a dark, dark place and to think about the emotions they felt by describing and drawing their emotions on a blank face
3 - Fill in Story - asks students to create a new story using a different adjective than "dark"
4 - Fill in Story - asks students to create a new story using a different noun than those used in the story
5 - Fill in Story - asks students to create a new story using a different noun and adjective than those used in the story
