Ada Twist, Scientist, written by Andrea Beatty and illustrated by David Roberts, is a wonderful way to start a research project. Use this activity pack with students after reading the book together as a group.
Included are 5 pages:
1 - Asks students to brainstorm on a topic by filling up The Great Thinking Hall
2 - Asks students to come up with a core question and organize their secondary questions into a graphic organizer containing the 5 W's
3 - Asks students to identify keywords (by using #1, #2, or both) to use for information seeking purposes later during research
4 - Ada Lovelace - asks students to find out basic information about Ada Lovelace by conducting basic research
5 - Marie Curie - asks students to find out basic information about Marie Curie by conducting basic research
