This game is a hit with my older intervention kids and appeals to those who love an element of strategy. I would choose this game for 8+ and those with dyslexic characteristics. It has proven very effective with this target group.
You could also use it in a class to revise the various spellings of the 'er' sound.
Switcheroo is a matching game, so each player has to match the previous player's card and in this version, it's the red letters that must match. As the player uses the card they must say the word and it's this aspect (from a multi-sensory perspective) that works. They are seeing the word, saying the word and using their hands all in unison. I have also played it with all players saying the word and sometimes I have one or two players who need this level of scaffolding.
I have included this game in a bundle with Posters to target Bossy R skills.
