Yoda, the Jedi Master, will teach your students 42 O_E words as they decipher the number, letter relationship in his code. This game is a great review of initial, medial and ending letter sounds, as well as blends, digraphs and sight word spelling.
The deciphering is pretty simple (at first). On cards 1-22 there is a 1:1 relationship between the number and letter. For instance, if Yoda’s Code reads (12-3-2) and the pictures are of a ROCKET, RIB and BED, your students will take the R and O—first and second letters from “rocket”; B—the third letter from “rib”; and E—the second letter in “bed.” Keeping the letters in the code/picture order, your students would write ROBE on their answer sheet (and clip the ROBE picture card to the code card).
Beginning on card 23 the whirlwind symbol is introduced. It simply means to SWITCH the letter order. The whirlwind affects one set of two letters in the codes on cards 23-38. On the last four cards, the whirlwind affects all of the letters. On these cards, your students will gather letters according to the code (identified in the example above) and then unscramble ALL of the letters to build the O_E word.
Answer key and recording sheets are included. This set also includes picture cards for each word your students will spell.
Are your students' ready to BREAK YODA'S CODE
and do a bunch of great word work and spelling?
