Ordinal numbers can be so overlooked. Yet they are some of the most important words to signify position in the English language!
Kids will have fun with these colorful manipulatives that will help them solidify their knowledge of ordinal numbers.
Students are encouraged to use the manipulatives, use charts or organizers, or not to use either to answer the questions posed about placement and position. There are even challenge activities where students practice simple sequencing, logic and deductive reasoning, patterns, and place order. There are 17 of these.
Children will have opportunities to practice ordinal numbers in 3 ways. They can sequence them from bottom to top, from left to right, from front to back. The manipulative activities are simplistic , appealing to the eye, and demonstrate the concept beautifully. Some are “stackable; others are free-standing. One moves. (elevator-this one is optional) With the only exception being the elevator, the prep needed is print & cut out. Many of the activities are laid out in such a way so that they can easily be used as anchor charts.
All manipulatives are labeled first, second, third, fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh, eighth, ninth, tenth.
