As students read Bull Run and learn about the firing on Fort Sumter and the start of the Civil War through the "eyes" of fictional participants, these reading comprehension and study questions about Fleischman's novel add to their understanding.
There are two attractive formats; one has room for student answers directly on the handout, the other requires students to use their own paper for answers which decreases copier paper use. Both have the identical questions which are student tested.
Also included is a glossary with a puzzle for the vocabulary words, a short bio of Clara Barton, and a word search for names in the novel. Answer keys for the questions and worksheets are not included.
There is a two page novel test WITH ANSWER KEY included too.
I have added a tri-fold research project two-page matrix and teacher directions. Students research and write a short report on one battle of the Civil War - a list is included, for which I've checked to assure ample information on the internet.
