"BUMP!" is a fun way for your students to practice letter sounds. It allows for repeated exposure to the sounds you want your children to produce automatically, but in an engaging and kinesthetic way that is sometimes lost in traditional flash-card practice. If you already have the BUMP! letter game from this store, this is a nice set to follow that one.
Instead of practicing on paper flash cards, this download presents the letters electronically, in a slide show, and the students produce the sound of each letter shown. There is a letter for each consonant and a visual cue to help children remember that each vowel has two sounds (a short sound and a long sound). The speech bubble on each slide reminds students to "say" the sound, not "name" the letter. Randomly placed throughout the slides are the words BUMP, STOMP, CLAP, SNAP, and WIGGLE. Your students' attention will be focused on producing the sounds for each letter as they anticipate seeing the fun action words pop up. When they see an action word, they say the word and do the action. A picture clue has been included with each action word to help support emergent readers.
If you use computers during center time, you can load the slide show onto student computers to allow for independent or partner practice.
