These 1st grade phonics & spelling lessons and assessments were made in collaboration with the fabulous first grade teachers on Heather's campus. They needed a phonics product that was HMH Journeys & TEKS aligned and had the continuous review of Saxon Phonics. Originally, this curriculum was made in D'Nealian handwriting as that is their preferred handwriting style. But, because we've had so many requests from teachers wanting these lessons in manuscript/Zaner-Bloser handwriting, we decided to do our best to meet their needs. These lessons print beautifully in color, but look just as great in black & white.

WEEK 29:
•Phonological Awareness: Segment syllables, delete phonemes, distinguish vowel sounds
•Phonics:
Contractions
•Spelling: don’t, can’t, I’ll, we’ll, they’re, you’re, we’ve, we’d, you’d, doesn’t

WEEK 30:
•Phonological Awareness: Segment syllables
•Phonics:
Suffixes –er, -est, -ful, -less, -ness
•Spelling: harder, fastest, slower, shortest, sadness, nameless, bashful (phonics), friendship, caught, thought (high frequency words)

WEEK 31:
•Phonological Awareness: Segment syllables
•Phonics:
Prefixes un-, pre-, dis-
•Spelling: even, open, begin, baby, music (phonics), brothers, most, people, everyone, only (high frequency)

WEEK 32:
