FISHY PERSUASIVE WRITING TEMPLATE
Link-Persuasive Writing Template for ANY Topic
This is a cute persuasive writing template that you can use for any topic! Instead of writing on one sheet of paper, the title, hook, main idea, details, and closing are written on separate pieces of designed paper to form a boat, fishhook, fish(two sizes available), and coral.
When hung on a strip of construction paper, they make an eye-catching display to hang up as a mobile or bulletin board display! There are also planning sheets and draft sheets that have the "parts" pictured on them so that your students know exactly where to write when publishing. A small revising and editing checklist are included!
-a planning sheet
-two sheets for drafting that include revising and editing checklists at the bottom. (These can be cut off if you won't need them.)
-a rowboat for the title that has waves underneath
-a fishhook that says "hook" for writing a hook
-a worm that says "main idea" and has writing lines
-2 sizes of fish with lines that say "reason" on the tail. (copy off as many as your children need!)
-a coral that says "closing"
YOU PROVIDE: You can copy onto card stock and then mount on a long strip of construction paper (not included). Directions include cutting larger fish outlines out of construction paper to mount behind the template fish to add color.
Interactive Book Reviews(Recommendations)
Link-Book Reviews Class Project- Interactive for 2nd and 3rd Graders
These Book Reviews for 2nd and 3rd Graders are perfect for spotlighting the books in your class library! Your student will LOVE recommending books for their classmates to read! Check out the preview above!
Children focus on giving 3 strong reasons for reading the book, telling about characters the reader will meet and their traits, and making a book-themed bookmark to be used while reading the book. They also rate the book 1-5 stars according to the included chart. I used this project in April and May, but it would be good for any time of the year. HIGHLIGHT READING IN YOUR CLASS!
Children create a wall hanging that their favorite book sits in. They create removable objects that tell about the characters and parts that they liked while reading it (without giving away the ending!). They also make a special bookmark for the others to use. Classmates have fun pulling out objects to read and using the bookmarks to decide.
I like projects that are ready to go, so I have included a colorful, cute title page "I'm Sure You'll Love This Book" that you can just mount on construction paper to hang up with your students' work. I have included thorough directions with pictures and suggestions. There is also a poster of reminders for your students of the directions for taking care of the items. You need only provide 12x18 construction paper to mount the projects. Everything is printable and READY TO GO for EASY PREP!
-Note: Some pages will need to be printed on white cardstock to be sturdy enough for little hands. You will also need colored construction paper 12x18 inches for each child. The pages get glued or stapled onto the construction paper.
Sand Bucket Book Reviews
Link-Book Reviews Opinion Writing Template Sand Bucket
Get your students writing book reviews to highlight their favorite book characters! This is the perfect assignment after you have taught about opinion writing! These cute sand buckets hold their writing about their favorite character from the book. They write a trait of the character and proof of that trait in the book. NOTE- this is NOT a lesson on character traits and it is expected that your students have background on that. They look REALLY CUTE hanging! The character is drawn and gets highlighted on the shovel.
Once again, I have included detailed lesson plans for this assignment, but your students should have background on character traits and opinion writing before doing this assignment. This template includes a planning sheet, draft sheet, publishing sheet so that the entire writing process can be done! See the PREVIEW ABOVE FOR A PHOTO!
THIS CRAFT DOES TAKE SOME TEACHER PREP, so plan ahead.
-teacher directions and prep list
-student directions with pictures and simple diagrams to aid in independence
-printable sheets for all parts of the template
-POSTER to hang up with the craftivity. Just mount on paper for the bulletin board title!
-designed paper (or you can replace with different colors of construction paper)
-shovel inserts work best run off on card stock
