Each of the five lessons are designed to be completed in one to two class periods and book companion activities can be enjoyed at a time that works best for your class!

Each lesson plan focuses on determining the theme of the text. The actions to determine the theme vary by story. Read aloud questions in the lesson plans promote the collection of text evidence to meet the objective after reading the story.

Lesson Objectives:

  • Looking for Miza: Students will be able to determine the theme of Looking for Miza by analyzing how the characters’ actions solved a problem.
