The attached file is a six week long unit designed to go with the first grade Common Core Curriculum Map Unit “American Contributions.” Each week has a five day lesson plan and a student activity packet. I have included both PDF and Word versions of each document if you would like to make changes to them.
The plans include: focus standards, vocabulary, essential questions, I can statements and technology links.
At the beginning of this unit, students will learn about George Washington, Benjamin Franklin and Paul Revere as well as working on reading skills for literature and nonfiction texts. Students will construct timelines of the lives of these remarkable people. Students will then learn about Laura Ingalls Wilder and complete a novel study of Little House in the Big Woods. Students will complete the unit by reading stories about and by Norman Rockwell.
