Photo Flash Cards can be used to teach your students new vocabulary words and then to help them retain such words. I usually print them, laminate them and leave them in a vocabulary box (Let students decorate it if you use a plain shoe box!). Students should have easy access to the box to review words learned whenever they want. I also use the vocabulary box for writing. I would give around 10 random cards to students (individually or in pairs) and then ask them to write a story by using those words in their piece of writing. It is creative, easy to implement and my students love the challenge. I also love to review vocabulary from time to time. With smaller classes I would ask students to form a circle, I would then show the photo flash cards and students will have to guess the word. With larger classes, I would ask them to stand up. I would then challenge them by showing the picture to a specific student. If he or she guesses, they continue otherwise they will have to sit. This is fantastic as a class opener!

If your students enjoyed this set of photo flash cards, I have other products with the same vocabulary words. These extra resources are puzzles and can help your students reinforce their vocabulary in a fun and lasting way. Check them out:
