This is the SymbolStix supported version of this resource.
This PowerPoint symbol-supported file can be presented in a large group format on the ‘large screen’ (interactive whiteboard) or can be displayed during small group/individual therapy on the ‘small screen’ (iPad) using the free Microsoft PowerPoint app. As is typically the case with ASbyS there are a multitude of creative ways that you can use this resource, but I like to read each verse with a literacy focus, then sing the verse pointing to either the printed words or the symbols as we sing. The song button (available on each page) can be used to add a vocal track while pointing to the printed words/symbols as you sing along.
If you have purchased a symbol-supported version, the symbols will appear AFTER all the animations for a page have been triggered. If you are working with students who are cognitively young you may wish to have the symbols appear upfront (i.e., when the page opens) to allow you to ‘read’ the page using the symbols. Please visit the Animated Step-by-Steps™ blog for information on how to transform your file to present the symbols upfront when the page opens (http://bit.ly/1imbZ7U).
As an aside, it is really fun to conduct this activity giving each child a set of props allowing them to act out each verse with their baby doll as the song unfolds. How fortunate that the symbols that you need to conduct Aided Language Stimulation are right there on the page!
Have fun using this resource!
