Product Description
This classroom community building resource is perfect for the first weeks back to school. Your students will learn about the importance of compliments, the difference between physical & non-physical compliments, and have the opportunity to share compliments with each of their classmates.

This activity was originally designed to be used with EXPO Dry Erase Ink Indicator Markers, which feature a clear window allowing you to see the ink remaining inside the dry erase maker. To read about how I use this activity in my classroom, click here to read my blog post.

WHAT’S INCLUDED:

Detailed Lesson Plans
These plans will walk you through my recommendations for introducing the Classmate Compliment Expo to your students. You will begin with teaching them how to share a compliment effectively. Students will then be introduced to physical and non-physical compliments, and discuss the idea that non-physical compliments are a wonderful way to build stronger friendships. Students will have the opportunity to categorize physical and non-physical compliments to solidify their understanding.

You will then be introduced to tips for setting up Compliment Expo stations in your classroom using the printable “mannequins” included in this resource. Once the compliment space is set, students will take turns giving and receiving compliments. Tips for taking photos of each student surrounded by the compliments written by their classmates, and tips for creating a back to school compliment display are also included.

Finally, students will participate in a Compliment Expo reflection. The included printable will guide students in thinking about the importance of compliments, their most memorable compliment received, and the feelings associated with receiving a strong compliment. Students will also write a compliment for someone outside the classroom, and a compliment for themselves.
