This game has two different game boards and can be played several ways. One board is for students who are able to add single digit numbers and the other board is for students who are practicing recognizing numbers. Further differentiate by allowing students to use digit dice, dot dice, one digit and one dot dice, or even allow a time limit for speed addition! All students will have fun with this back to school game. Laminate the game boards for durability.
The first game board is for students who are able to add single digit numbers.
Capture! Option 1: Using one game board, players roll the dice two times. Add the numbers. Cover the space with the correct sum. If a player rolls a sum that is already covered, he or she can knock off the other player and capture that space and now it is no longer able to be captured. The first player to fill 7 of the frames is the winner. The free space can be used for any sum.
Super Sums Option 2: Copy the game board for each player. Each player rolls the dice two times and adds to find the sum. Each player covers the space with the sum. The first player to cover his or her entire board is the winner. The free space is for any sum.
The second game board is for students who are recognizing numbers.
Option 1: Students roll a numbered dice or a dot dice. Students cover the space with the corresponding number. The first player to cover 7 or more spaces is the winner.
Option 2: Students play until they cover a space for all numbers 1-6. The first player to do so is the winner.
