Establishing a positive learning environment through classroom expectations.
When students are allowed to have a voice in establishing the expectations for the classroom learning environment, they learn what those expectations are and actively seek to abide by them.
With this resource, the teacher will discuss the things that students have listed as being important to them as a learner and as possibly being important to their classmates as a learner. From the list of ideas, a list of classroom expectations with input from the students and teachers will be agreed upon. As classroom expectation statements are written, the students will record the list on the student contract. A behavior modification form, goals sheet, and classroom helper badges are also included.
